DearMBchurch.ca:
Thank you for being a place where I can worship God. I love being in a community of people who are committed to following Jesus, committed to sharing the gospel and being the gospel (good news) for this world.
I didn’t grow up in this church, I was raised in a different Mennonite denomination, where I served as a minister. Almost three years ago, I was led to Lendrum MB in the city of Edmonton where I feel the love of Jesus within the church, flowing out of the church to the city around us.
Lendrum MB has been a place where people have heard how Jesus saves them, changes their life, turns them around. It’s not a message for one cultural group, it’s a message for our neighbours, for the people we meet every day. And lives have been changed!
Here at Lendrum MB we have also worked to share the good news that Jesus has not just for individuals, but for the city of Edmonton. We do that by taking Jesus’ life seriously, by loving our neighbour as ourselves. Over the years our church has shared the gospel by helping start recycling programs when none existed, welcoming refugees, helping to build houses for homeless people, planting churches, feeding hungry people, and addressed suffering in far-flung parts of the world. We did this because Jesus’ love poured out of us.
I believe that God works through you, dear MB church, and God is faithful. What will the future hold? That’s a topic for another letter.
Love, Carol Penner, Lendrum MB Church, Edmonton
